What the World Needs Now

is… CHOCOLATE!!!! Seriously, we need chocolate. At least we do in this house. Coffee ice cream, on warm chocolate brownies, with whipped cream, caramel sauce, nuts, and a cherry. That’s what we call therapy here. Jess and I have been feeling the strain of the last months of work on our bodies. We hurt like the old biddies we are going to turn into! Today we had a hookie day from school. We sat at home, laid in bed, watched movies, had ice cream, and oogled the iPad. Don’t worry peeps, we’re  A students and almost never miss class. We needed a day of rest while the kids were with their dad. (Except Madison, she stayed home but played on her laptop and helped do laundry.)

When I won Princess of Scrap at www.scrapmatters.com this year I got a journal from www.logyourmemory.com called List My Life. I haven’t done more than browsed the pages yet. I have enjoyed looking through the pages and remembering the details of my life. Sometimes just thumbing the pages feels nice when I’m sitting at my desk stumped. I may be a digi scrapper, but I am still a very tactile person. I love to see things and touch things. Having things that inspire me surrounding me helps a lot.

One thing that occurred to me, that had nothing to do with the journal, was blog organization. I think one reason I have a difficulty sitting down and writing posts at times is due to my jumbled mind. I don’t want my thoughts to come across jumbled so I often post pone ideas until I have them all laid out in a bloggable format. Well, I was thinking. If I just start writing those ideas out and making a schedule for when I will assign myself that topic, I might actually get more blogging done.

We’re no longer stuck with the chore of helping renovate the rental house we’re in. That’s a huge relief to me. I had no idea how much that was weighing me down until I got the news. The rest of the day I was joyful and uplifted!

I have felt so much more free lately that I even got back on track with my scrapping. I was starting to feel badly for taking on as many creative teams as I had. At the time I totally felt I could handle it. Then life threw me for such a whallop that I hadn’t expected, I really didn’t hardly have time. I am glad I didn’t give up. I’m grateful for the women that I have been doing layouts for. They were all so very understanding and forgiving.  This is a list of my creative teams. All of these women design and sell at scrapmatters.com. I highly recommend their products. I have yet to find a product I didn’t absolutely love. I was asked to join some creative teams for other designers outside of scrapmatters.com. While I thought their designs were amazing too, I just felt so loyal to scrapmatters.com and their designers I didn’t want to split my time elsewhere just then. Even when I would get a product that wasn’t my favorite style I was able to make the most fun layouts ever. The quality is awesome, the variety is always generous, and the designers themselves are just great people.

They just celebrated their 3rd birthday. I’m so happy they’ve stuck around long enough for me to find them. I really loved my guest spot during the month of July. I hope to join their creative team for the site one day. While I do design my own products and sell at a different site, I would love to one day be selling at scrapmatters as well. I love the ladies I’ve gotten to know at other sites through my adventures in designing as well. The scrapbook community, both paper and digi, may be filled with their fair share of drama and troubles, but it is also filled with a lot of really amazing people that just want to reach out and touch each others lives in some way.

Here is my favorite layout from the weekend. Monster using the Monster Play Time Bundle by WimpyChompers Creations at Scrapmatters.com

I’ll admit, I picked out this kit as a challenge to myself. The colors were awesome, as were the patterns. I’m not usually into the cutesy “paper cut” dolls and creatures in some kits. It just hasn’t been part of my style. When I opened up the kit and went to work with these monstery pictures of my roommate’s son, Gabriel, I was really pleased. There was a variety of elements that I would usually love to use. I even did end up using some of the cute little monsters. I couldn’t resist!

SuperFloss, Butterflies, and Back Pain

I know that has to be a random title right? Well that’s pretty much what is going on with life. I’ve been having a lot of lower back pain. Pinching that nerve that shoots into my hip. You know the one. Ever since I was pregnant with my daughter 9 years ago that lower back business just never seems to be right. I have a lovely little massager that attaches to my desk chair. It kneads the back and helps a lot.

SuperFloss! It’s amazing. It has a thick stiff end you can use to thread into your teeth at the gum line, it gets thicker and soft, then like normal floss and long at the end. It makes it way easier to floss my crowded teeth and get them really really really clean. I’m working on getting my dental care under control so I can get braces for my birthday next year. I’ve had a terrible time with floss because of the crowding in my teeth. This is the first time I’ve woke up and my teeth still feel clean in the morning. I highly recommend it! It’s about $2.50 for a box of 50 precut strands. I use an Oral-B Vitality electric toothbrush as well. Because of my CPAP I often end up with really dry mouth. I got a sample of Biotene from my dentist. That definitely helps. Finally I’m using chlorhexidine gluconate. It’s a prescribed mouth wash from the dentist that he refers to as the “arnold of mouthwashes.” It’s amazing but nasty! So if you have a problem with plaque build-up and you get dry mouth at night, or you have icky mouth in the morning; that’s what has helped me.

Butterflies! They are everywhere and I love them. I might have to start sneaking them into every layout. This is the last layout I made during the Queen of Scrap contest at ScrapMatters. (more…)
